Ruth is a New Zealand trained teacher with over twenty years experience in primary and intermediate schools within New Zealand, as well as teaching for a year at a University in China. She has a special interest in gifted and talented children especially those who are twice exceptional. She has been in private practice as an educational psychologist for the last eleven years and works with a broad range of children and families to assist with learning, behavioural and social needs. She enjoys working with teachers and schools to help recognise children’s’ strengths and plan the best possible solutions for each individual whether it be academic, creative, social, or assistance with special exam conditions for NCEA, Cambridge and IB. She helps to identify and provide support for children with learning disabilities such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia, as well as those with ADHD, ASD, anxiety, and other disabilities/difficulties. Ruth has worked for a Resource Teacher of Learning and Behaviour team (RTLB) assessing a wide range of children with academic and behavioural needs, which includes liaising with different support organisations including pediatricians, psychiatrists, counselors, speech language therapists, and occupational therapists. Ruth is a mother of two and has five grandchildren.
